Women

Through my previous work as a midwife and gynaecological nurse, I have a particular understanding of women's experiences and the different stages of life.

I support women to explore and make sense of who they are, what they're experiencing and how they may be feeling. This can include support around perimenopause and menopause, changes in identity, relationships, confidence and self-worth, as well as pregnancy and reproductive loss at any stage, including miscarriage, stillbirth and termination.

Your Questions, Answered

Who do you work with?

Couples

I work with couples.

Couples in healthy relationships can argue, have different opinions, feel frustrated, insecure or disconnected at times. Healthy doesn't mean perfect.

What can make a difference is how you choose to move through those challenges together. My role is to help you both communicate more openly, understand one another and explore the patterns within your relationship.

Young people

I work with young people.

I recognise that the teenage years can bring a lot of emotional challenges and that there can be many different reasons why a young person may be struggling.

This might be following a change in circumstances, such as parental separation or divorce, the loss of someone they love, bullying, pressure to do well, difficulties with confidence or simply feeling confused about who they are and where they fit.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where young people can feel heard and have the opportunity to explore what is happening for them.

EMDR

I am also qualified to provide EMDR.

EMDR can be helpful when distressing experiences from the past continue to affect how you feel, think or respond in the present. It can support the processing of difficult experiences and help you develop a different relationship with memories, negative beliefs and the feelings associated with them.

How much do you charge?

My usual rate is £65 per session. Sessions are 50 minutes.

I believe counselling should be as accessible as possible, so I do offer a small number of concessionary-rate places. If cost is a concern, please don’t let this prevent you from getting in touch. We can talk about your circumstances and see what may be possible.

Couples counselling: £75 for 1 hour or £90 for 1.5 hours.

EMDR: £75 for 1 hour or £90 for 1.5 hours.

Session payment & booking

Payment is required when you receive your booking confirmation, and your session will be held for 48 hours while payment is made.

If payment has not been received within this time, the session may be released and offered to someone else.

Due to the number of enquiries I receive and the limited availability of sessions, I’m only able to carry out sessions once payment has been received.

How many sessions will I need?

This is different for everyone.

I offer open-ended counselling, which means that there isn't a set number of sessions you have to commit to. Some people may find that a shorter period of counselling, perhaps around six sessions, is helpful, while others may benefit from longer-term support.

We can talk about what you're hoping to get from counselling during our initial consultation and regularly review things together as we go.

You remain at the centre of decisions about your counselling, including what you would like to explore and how long you would like to continue.

Where are you based?

I’m based in Knaresborough, which has good public transport links, including rail.

I offer both face-to-face and online counselling using Zoom, so you can access support wherever you are in the UK.

What technology do I need for virtual therapy?

Any computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection, camera, and microphone will work.
